Emerging Scholar Workshop: Evolutionary Perspectives on Strategic ManagementEvent Link:
Fundamental to the problem of strategic management is the pursuit of competitive advantage in dynamic environments. An evolutionary approach that embraces the challenge of firm adaptation to settings which themselves are subject to complex dynamics has proven to be a powerful lens on this basic problem of strategic management and has formed the basis of considerable work in the strategy literature over the last two decades. While this line of work has achieved considerable prominence in the literature, it is still not a well-codified, or broadly diffused element of doctoral training in strategic management. As a result, The Mack Center for Technological Innovation at the Wharton School is pleased to announce the creation of a new week-long workshop for emerging scholars in the field: The Mack Center’s Emerging Scholars Workshop. The workshop is designed for scholars ranging from students who are completing the second year of doctoral studies to those who have recently completed a doctorate. Participants will learn from leading scholars in the field. Attendance will be restricted to 20 attendees. The program will consist of a mix of seminar discussion and short presentations by participants reflecting their research interests and reactions to the seminar discussions.
The program will begin on Sunday, June 24th and end on Friday June 29th. Each day will consist of a three hour workshop lead by an individual faculty member on the indicated theme, followed by broader group discussions and presentations in the afternoon.
The 2012 Topic and Faculty are as follows:
